Soil Health Lobby Day

On Wednesday March 6th, our Resource Conservationist-Shawnee, and Chairman- Terry, attended Soil Health Lobby Day in Springfield, IL. While there, they were able to find and talk with lawmakers to talk about bills involving soil health that we are hoping for them to sponsor. Thanks to the help of our district and many other soil health individuals (From various organizations and districts) we have over 20 cosponsors added on to the bills!

What Can We Do?

Technical Workload

We facilitate the Partners for Conservation Program which is funded through Illinois Department of Agriculture. Through this program we can do all the technical work at creating a plan or design to implement conservation practices on your property with cost share available.

Education/ Outreach

Our district strives to pass on knowledge about conservation, conservation products, cost share options on the local, state, and federal level, and inform our communities and the upcoming generations of agriculturalists about conservation and soil health/ water quality.

Sales

We host many sales throughout the year, including fish sales in the spring and fall, as well as cool water fish sales in the early winter. We also host plant sales in the Spring.

We have construction fabric, construction flags, tile probes, and soil and water merch for sale year round.

Shawnee Sheehan

Shawnee has been a member of our district employees since 2020. She has recently been inducted in as a Region 1 representative for the Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Employee Association Board.

Activities and Events

We like to remain involved in our community as much as possible and venture to any events we can! If you have any events, conferences, etc. upcoming or are an Ag Educator and would like a classroom visit, please reach out!
